Introducing my new venture:

Daytime Favourites Market

About:

A design focused makers market in the South of Edinburgh with the goal to give back to the makers involved during a time that is incredibly challenging for creatives.

What:

Saturday 2nd November 2024

10am - 4pm

When:

The Old Schoolhouse,

140 Morningside Rd,

Edinburgh EH10 4PX

Where:

As an experienced maker and market vendor, I have decided to take matters into my own hands and develop a maker-focused market in Edinburgh. My aim is to break the mould of how markets are organised, bringing recognition back to the makers by offering affordable stall fees and opportunities that benefit those who attract the customers.

To start this journey, I will keep the price of the stalls low by offering different sizes and providing two free stalls to makers who are just starting out or are economically disadvantaged. Additionally, I will be running my own stall at the market, ensuring I have a vested interest in encouraging customer attendance. Lastly, I will trial a system where a £1 entry fee from each customer is divided among the stallholders, up to the value of their stall fee.

Does that make sense? I hope so.

Why?/How?:

Good vibes are most important.

Extra Application Info:

Stall holders will be chosen with a curatorial mindset, ensuring a diversity of products and styles under a cohesive vision with the local market in mind.

If you are not accepted this time round, don’t be disheartened! I probably don’t have space for your product type at this particular market.

… and finally, I’m new to this whole market organising thing. I have a lot of experience taking part in markets as a stallholder so I’m hoping to channel that into organising the most maker-friendly market I can. Please bear with me as I’m only a small bean with big dreams.
